Former Presidential Candidate Sets Sights on Municipal Leadership in Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem.

Putting to rest speculation about his 2024 presidential ambitions, prominent Ghanaian politician Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has announced his intent to run for the position of Municipal Chief Executive for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA).

In a Facebook post addressing supporters who urged him to lead the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) towards the upcoming national elections, Dr. Nduom, founder of the PPP, declared his preference for a different kind of leadership role.

"This is for those who have been agitating to get me to join the 2024 Presidential race, note this," he wrote. "What I want, is the opportunity to contest in an election to become the Chief Executive of Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem municipality."

Dr. Nduom, a widely respected figure in Ghanaian politics and business, expressed his desire to "show our people in practical terms how to administer an area for the benefit of the citizens." His vision for KEEA, as outlined in his post, encompasses key priorities like improved sanitation, infrastructure development, job creation, universal education, and quality healthcare.

This unexpected announcement marks a significant shift in Dr. Nduom's political trajectory. Having previously run for president in 2008 and 2012, his decision to focus on local leadership in KEEA raises intriguing questions about his future political aspirations.

Whether Dr. Nduom's bid for the KEEA Municipal Chief Executive position marks a complete departure from national politics or paves the way for a future return to the national stage remains to be seen. One thing is certain, however: his entry into the KEEA race promises to inject an exciting new dimension into the upcoming local elections, generating considerable interest and debate amongst voters and political observers alike.
