Akim Oda Community Leaders Applaud Church of Pentecost's Environmental Initiative.

The Queen Mother, Chief Imam, and District Chief Executive (DCE) of Akim Achiase in the Eastern Region have commended the Church of Pentecost (COP) for its environmental care campaign. They see it as a crucial step towards a cleaner environment and a healthier community.

These leaders expressed their support during the culmination of a week-long environmental clean-up exercise organized by COP. The exercise involved church members, Muslims, and representatives from the local council of churches. Together, they cleaned the Achiase Health Centre, the Takyimanhene Palace, and the main streets of Akim Achiase, under the leadership of Pastor Roland Kwabena Ayensu, the District Pastor of Akim Achiase.

In a statement to the media, Ps. Ayensu emphasized the role of humans as stewards of God's creation, highlighting the importance of environmental protection. He proposed several initiatives:

Chiefs and elders collaborating to designate a dedicated clean-up day with town stores closed.

Strategic placement of waste bins for easier waste disposal.

Encouraging ministers, elders, and teachers to promote environmental care within their spheres of influence, particularly church premises.

A common theme emerged throughout the event: the responsibility of citizens to manage waste properly and maintain a clean and green environment.  Speakers stressed the importance of protecting water bodies from pollution and the concept of humans as stewards accountable to God for how they use natural resources. They emphasized a patriotic duty to leave a better world for future generations.

The clean-up exercise, involving both the Achiase District and Achiase Agricultural District, culminated in a durbar at the Takyimanhene Palace. Stakeholders, including traditional leaders, clergy, the DCE, market women, Christians, and Muslims, gathered for a discussion and received advice from community leaders.
