Fuel Prices Expected to Stay Below GHS18.
The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) has good news for drivers and consumers across the country. They've assured Ghanaians that fuel prices are unlikely to hit the projected GHS18 per litre mark by the end of April 2024.
This welcome update comes after a period of uncertainty. The CBOD says their analysis of key factors affecting fuel prices, especially the exchange rate, has shown stability over the.x past week. This stability should prevent a significant increase in the prices of petrol, diesel, and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Dr. Patrick Kwaku Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of the CBOD, addressed recent reports suggesting a jump in prices to GHS18 per litre. He dismissed these claims and urged the public and "energy experts" to avoid making unsubstantiated predictions. Dr. Ofori highlighted the potential negative impact of such speculation, including causing unnecessary fear among consumers and disrupting investment in the energy sector.
The CBOD recognizes the influence of public perception on fuel prices. To combat misinformation, they plan to organize training programs for journalists. These programs will focus on the various components that contribute to fuel pricing and the dynamics of the market. By improving understanding, the CBOD hopes to reduce confusion and anxiety surrounding fuel prices in Ghana.
