EC Seeks to Make Ghana Card Sole Identity for Voter Registration

The Electoral Commission (EC) has received the green light from all political parties to introduce legislation making the Ghana Card the sole document for identifying citizenship in voter registration. EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, announced this after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The EC will lay the bill before Parliament in the next session, aiming to curb the registration of minors and foreigners in the voters' register. "The EC still holds the view... that the Ghana Card will help to cure the bussing of minors and the infiltration of minors into our voters register," Mrs. Mensa emphasized.
