Finance Minister Urges GRA to Double Efforts to Meet Revenue Targets_

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Minister for Finance, has emphasized the crucial role of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in supporting the government's revenue collection efforts to fund development projects and meet the needs of Ghanaians.

During a working visit to the GRA staff at Aflao, the Minister stressed that without sufficient revenue, the government would have to rely on loans, which is not a sustainable option.

The Minister commended the GRA staff for their hard work and contributions to revenue mobilization, urging them to "double their efforts" to achieve even more. He assured them of his commitment to providing necessary reforms, including promotions, staff bungalow renovations, and logistics to motivate them.

Dr. Amin Adam, who referred to himself as the "cheerleader" of the GRA, emphasized the need for collective success, saying, "We rise together and fall together." He encouraged the staff to restore public confidence, which had been eroded by the actions of a few "miscreants." He also warned that appropriate sanctions would be applied to officers whose actions or inactions continued to tarnish the image of the GRA and affect revenue mobilization.

The Commissioner General of the GRA, Ms. Julie Essiam, commended the Minister for his commitment to staff welfare and echoed his call for increased revenue collection, particularly in this election year. She challenged the staff to prove doubters wrong and meet revenue targets, emphasizing that they were key to achieving revenue growth, IMF structural benchmarks, and the Medium Term Revenue Strategy.

The Minister's visit aimed to motivate the GRA staff to work together to achieve remarkable revenue collection success during his tenure as Finance Minister.
