Government's Excessive Borrowing Puts Banks at Risk of Bankruptcy - Dr. Atuahene_

Banking consultant Dr. Richmond Atuahene has sounded the alarm over the government's unchecked borrowing, warning that it is pushing local banks to the brink of financial distress and potential bankruptcy.

Speaking on Citi FM's Citi Breakfast Show, Dr. Atuahene attributed the issue to the government-backed domestic debt exchange programme, which he believes has created a reckless borrowing culture that is straining local banks and the Cedi.

Dr. Atuahene cautioned that if the government's behavior is not checked, many banks will soon find themselves in trouble, emphasizing the need for fiscal responsibility to prevent a banking crisis.

His warning highlights the urgent need for sustainable economic management to ensure the stability of Ghana's financial sector.
