Interior Minister Debunks Minority's Claims of NPP Bias in Security Recruitment*

Interior Minister Henry Quartey has dismissed allegations made by the Minority in Parliament that the security and intelligence agencies are recruiting New Patriotic Party (NPP) members into the security services.

According to Minister Quartey, the planned recruitment targets individuals who previously applied for jobs in the security and intelligence agencies but were not selected and are still interested in being recruited.

Speaking on Accra-based Citi FM, Minister Quartey described the Minority's allegations as "incitement" and urged them to desist from spreading false information. He explained that the security and intelligence agencies have not yet released their eligibility criteria for the recruitment, and the government is adopting an innovative strategy to give qualified Ghanaian nationals another chance to achieve their goals.

The Minority had alleged that the government had given 20 slots to NPP Members of Parliament to recruit people into the security services and intelligence agencies.

However, Minister Quartey termed this claim a "palpable lie," stating that the multiplication of the said slots by the number of MPs in Parliament far exceeds the clearance given by the Ministry of Finance for the recruitment. He assured that the Ministry would soon issue a statement on the recruitment.

"We are not recruiting party people to do party work," Minister Quartey emphasized, reiterating the government's commitment to fair and transparent recruitment processes.
