Woman Dies in House Fire, Two Sons Arrested for Suspected Arson_

A devastating house fire in Abuakwa Manhyia, Ashanti Region, has claimed the life of a mother, and her two sons are currently in police custody in connection with the incident.

The fire occurred on Tuesday, May 14, around 10 am, following an altercation between the two brothers and their grandmother.

According to reports, the grandmother sought police assistance due to fear for her life, but before she could return, the two brothers, believed to be mentally unstable, allegedly set the three-bedroom house ablaze, trapping their mother inside. Firefighters later discovered her charred body after extinguishing the fire.

The assembly member, Evans Opoku, confirmed that the two siblings are assisting police investigations. "They were two, so the police arrested them. The police said that the two people caused the incident, so they arrested them yesterday," he said.

All occupants have been evacuated, and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has been informed to assess the structural integrity of the house, which may be demolished for safety reasons. The incident is under investigation.
