GJA President Condemns Attacks on Journalists as Threat to Democracy
Accra, Ghana – July 31st, 2025 – Speaking at an event held today, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), delivered a strong condemnation of the increasing attacks against journalists in Ghana, emphasizing the critical link between a free press and a thriving democracy.
“An attack against journalists is an attack against democracy,” stated Mr. Dwumfour, addressing an audience of media professionals, civil society representatives, and stakeholders. His powerful statement underscored the GJA's unwavering stance against any form of intimidation, harassment, or violence directed at members of the press.
The event, held under the theme "Attacks on Journalists," served as a platform to highlight the challenges faced by journalists in the country and to advocate for greater protection and safety for media practitioners.
