ABIREM MP HON. CHARLES OWIREDU PROMISES FREE MATTRESSES AND TRUNKS TO JHS GRADUATES
ABIREM, Eastern Region — The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Abirem Constituency in the Birim North District, Hon. Charles Asuako Owiredu, has pledged to supply free student mattresses and wooden trunks to Junior High School (JHS) graduates in the constituency as they prepare to transition into Senior High School (SHS).
The initiative aims to relieve the financial burden on parents and guardians during the school placement season, ensuring that basic boarding supplies do not hinder student enrollment.
Speaking to journalists on the initiative, Hon. Cosmos Boateng Ofori, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Electoral Area Committee Chairperson for Amuana Praso, commended the lawmaker for his foresight and commitment to grassroots human capital development.
Hon. Cosmos Boateng Ofori described the intervention as a direct cushion for families struggling to meet the initial material requirements for SHS admission. He highlighted that while tuition remains covered under government policy, the procurement of personal effects—specifically mattresses and trunks—often poses a significant challenge for rural households across the district.
Hon. Boateng Ofori reaffirmed the local party executive’s commitment to supporting the MP’s developmental agenda across all electoral areas within the Birim North District. He further urged beneficiaries and parents to make effective use of the support to encourage higher academic achievement among students in the constituency.
