Drivers, Passengers Cry Out Over Deplorable Obeyeyie–Akramaman Road

OBEYEYIE – AKRAMAMAN — Daily commuters plying the road linking Obeyeyie to Akramaman within the Amasaman district of the Ga West Municipal Assembly are facing a severe financial drain.

 Local commercial drivers and frustrated passengers have united in demanding urgent, direct intervention from the assembly to address the crumbling infrastructure.

​For those who rely on this vital stretch, the daily journey has shifted from a routine commute into an exhausting, costly battle against deep potholes, thick dust, and heavy vehicular wear and tear.

​Commercial drivers report that the crater-riddled road is rapidly destroying their vehicles and actively eroding their livelihoods.

​"The state of this road is eating us up," a driver on the route lamented. "We are constantly at the mechanic shop, servicing the cars just to keep them on the road.

 Whatever small money we make goes directly back into repairs."

​Frequent suspension damage, broken shock absorbers, and ruined tires have turned daily operations into a hand-to-mouth struggle.

​To survive the soaring maintenance costs, drivers have been forced to hike transport fares, passing the financial burden directly onto local passengers.

​"The transportation fares have increased significantly compared to before," a frustrated passenger shared. "We are paying far more now, making life incredibly difficult for those of us who travel this route daily."

​As a vital economic artery for local workers, traders, and school children, the deplorable state of the Obeyeyie–Akramaman stretch remains a major hazard.

 Residents are urgently calling on the Ga West Municipal Assembly, headquartered in Amasaman, and the Ministry of Roads and Highways to step in and fix the road immediately.
