Tinubu Mandates Government Agencies to Switch to Gas-Powered Vehicles_

In a bid to promote cleaner energy and reduce fuel costs, Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive ordering all government agencies to purchase only gas-powered vehicles.

According to a statement by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the president instructed all government departments and agencies to begin disposing of petrol or diesel-powered vehicles and replace them with compressed natural gas (CNG), solar-powered, or electric vehicles.

The directive aims to harness Nigeria's vast gas potential to alleviate the burden of high transportation costs on citizens. This move comes shortly after the government announced plans to introduce over 2,000 gas-powered buses and tricycles by May 29, marking President Tinubu's first anniversary in office.

Nigeria boasts Africa's largest gas reserves, but they remain underutilized due to inadequate processing facilities. By transitioning to gas-powered vehicles, the government seeks to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel, decrease fuel costs, and promote a cleaner environment. This initiative aligns with President Tinubu's commitment to effectively harnessing Nigeria's gas resources for the benefit of its citizens.
