Kayoro Community Celebrates Access to Potable Water After Years of Struggle

The Kayoro Community in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region is jubilant after Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL) and WaterAid Ghana partnered to provide a water facility, ending years of reliance on malfunctioned boreholes and long journeys to fetch water from a nearby river.

The new solar-powered mechanized water system, commissioned last week, will serve over 300 residents and the local health center, which provides services to over 6,000 people. The intervention is part of GGBL's Water for Life program, launched in 2020, to provide access to safe drinking water, improved toilets, and basic hygiene facilities in communities where it sources raw materials.

Community members, health workers, and local leaders expressed gratitude and relief, acknowledging their struggles without access to potable water. The facility is expected to drive economic growth, improve health services, and enhance the community's overall well-being.
